Marlene McIntire, Funeral Director

Marlene has been in the funeral industry for over 20 years. She finds it rewarding to help families through the difficult time of losing a loved one. She is a native Oregonian and has lived most of her life in the Portland area. In years past she raised and showed St. Bernards, many to their championships.

Suzanne Brawn, Funeral Director & Embalmer

Before Suzanne started serving families at Donelson in April 2014, she served as a case manager for a domestic violence safe house for women. She is currently active with Rotary and the Milwaukie Community Center, and is a past supported of Meals on Wheels, Oregon Food Bank, Multnomah County Animal Control, and the Portland Women’s Crisis Line.

Judith Myers, Funeral Home Administrator

Judi joined the staff in July 2009 with 20 years of administrative experience. A Hillsboro resident, she has ties to the neighboring city of Cornelius, where her brother served as mayor and her father, Bill Bash, has been a longtime pastor. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, reading and gardening.

Alma Caro, Receptionist and Interpreter

Alma is our bi-langual administrative assistant who enjoys serving families. She has been a longtime resident of Washington County. When she is not working she is very busy with her two wonderful boys.

Bret Kohanek, Pre-Arrangement Counselor

Bret joined the funeral home staff in 2005, and is licensed with Oregon Life Insurance and the Oregon Mortuary and Cemetery Board. He and his 10-year-old Lab-Retriever mix live in the Linwood neighborhood. He is an American Red Cross supporter who donates blood at area churches including St. Johns the Baptist, Grace Point, Milwaukie Lutheran, and Clackamas Christian Center Assembly of God.

Kris Sundholm, Funeral Attendant / Removal Technician

Kris started working for the funeral home in March 2005. The Portland native has lived in Hillsboro for more than 20 years and is active in the community through church. He also is a filmmaker, and studied at the Northwest Film Center. Kris and his wife, Kara, have a dog, Brucio, who loves to play fetch, and three chickens, Duck Duck Goose, Mama Gracie, and Henryetta.

Kara Sundholm, Removal Technician

Kara has worked for Donelson since March 2008 and enjoys being able to helpfamilies through the loss of their loved ones. She resides in Hillsboro, and volunteers as a youth group leader at church. Born in Kailua, she moved from her native Hawaii to Oregon at 15 years old. In 2005, she married Kris, who also works for the funeral home. The couple has a dog named Brucio and three chickens.

Cynthia Foss, Cemetery Administrator

Cynthia joined the staff in March 1997, and has played piano for funeral services when needed. Because she has suffered loss in her life, she enjoys being able to help those during their time of need.

Joe Ortiz, Cemetery Grounds Supervisor

Joe has worked at Firlawn Memorial Park since June 1987 and enjoys keeping the cemetery clean and beautiful. The Arizona native was raised in Oregon and has lived with his wife in Hillsboro for more than 35 years. In his spare time, he enjoys working out, riding his motorcycle, and barbecuing with friends.

Luis Garcia, Cemetery Groundskeeper

Luis has enjoyed learning new things every day since he joined the grounds and maintenance staff at Firlawn Memorial Park in May 2013. He is a native and lifelong Oregon resident who grew up in the small town of Cornelius. He enjoys spending time with his family,  traveling to new places and outdoor activities, such as fishing and hunting.
