Abelid Sarahi Verri, attended her life's graduation on June 14th 2023 after her two year courageous and faith-filled battle with sarcoma. Sarahi was a strong fighter who defeated the life expectancy she was given and never stopped believing for her miracle. She is now free of pain in her heavenly home doing what she loved most, singing/worshiping her savior Jesus.
Sarahi came to the world with a smile and fierce attitude on April 26th 1985 in Pachuca Hidalgo, Mexico. She grew up in Toluca Edo. de Mexico, was an inquisitive, fearless, and creative thinker who even as a child loved to reflect in the wonders of the world. At age twelve she moved to Portland OR (1998), with her family, she attended Century high school (2003) and later on Portland State University (2007) where she obtained her BA in Communications and later on she went on to pursue her MA. Ed at Marylhurst University (2019).
Sarahi leaves behind her adoring husband and best friend Federico Verri (married July 7th, 2011) and her children, the joys of her life, Emma and Alec. Forever remembered by her father Abel Dominguez and her mother Elvia Vazquez, and her sisters, her inseparable play accomplices of many years, Berednice Miller and Lizbeth Dominguez.
Sarahi, a fun spirited and courageous soul and force of life that will always remain with us. She was a student of life, always learning and curious about the world. She discovered her passion for teaching while working at the International School, and later on she continued educating young minds at Lowrie Elementary; she loved seeing young minds light up with the discovery of new knowledge. Abby, as she is fondly remembered by her students, took special interest for students with learning challenges and made it her goal to see them shine; she leaves for her students a legacy of self confidence, fearlessness and can-do attitude. She believed in people, possibilities, creativity, and kindness.
Sarahi had a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor that was so uniquely her own. If you were lucky enough to know Sarahi/Abby well, you know the wonderful phone call or chat that always came from her. She always found ways to be fully present to each moment of her life and she was there for you with a warm heart. We will forever remember her as a wellspring of kind, caring and fierce energy, curiosity and faith.
These words cannot possibly sum up the life of such a beautiful person, but it is a glimpse into knowing her. Sarahi/Abby was a beautiful person from the inside out. Her smile was so stunning it would light up the whole room. She was so kind and passionately fierce. She made an impact on many lives. She will be forever missed.
Always with you.
