Alfred (Al) Carl Weverka, 87years old, of Hillsboro, OR, passed away, Friday, May 24, 2019 at OHSU following a fall at his home.
Al was born in Center Township, Butler County, Nebraska, to Adolph and Clara (Theewen) Weverka. In 1940 the Weverka family moved to Hillsboro, Oregon. Al graduated from Hillsboro High School, and shortly after, he joined the US Coast Guard. On October 29, 1951, he married his wife, Jeanette, and after his honorable discharge they relocated back to Hillsboro, Oregon. Al and Jeanette raised 3 children: Marie, Janet and David. Al had a long career with the Beaverton School District retiring in July of 1988 at age 57.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeanette, a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Peter Reimers of Hillsboro, OR. A son and daughter-in-law, David and Maria Weverka of Klamath Falls, OR. Grandchildren: Shannon Schaeffer Mackenroth and her husband Adam Mackenroth, Jason Schaeffer and his partner Julie Caldwell, Ashley Castillo, Joshua Castillo, Tyler Reimers, Mark Reimers, Britton Weverka, Kenneth Weverka, Robert Weverka and Jennifer Weverka Tallman . Their Great Grandchildren included: Karina Schaeffer, Colin Mackenroth, Charles (Weverka Tallman) Elder. Brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sharon Weverka, of Cornelius and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Celestine Duris in 2018, his daughter Marie Ann Schaeffer Castillo in 2010 and son-in-law Richard Schaeffer.
Al was a good husband, father and neighbor. He was quite a handyman and was quick to help any and all with things that needed fixed. He was passionate about hunting and fishing and spent some great times in the outdoors with friends and family. Al loved his family and was proud of his grandchildren and how they have grown up.
Viewing at Donelson Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
Celebration of life on Friday June 7, 2019 at 11:00am followed by luncheon.
Burial on Friday June 7, 2019 at 2:00pm at Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro
