Alice Lavida Ruede Lewis, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed on Monday, July 18, 2016. Alice was born to Dora Klaudt Ruede and Gottlibe Ruede on June 24, 1922 in McLaughlin, SD. She married Nolan Lee Lewis on January 23, 1941. They had three daughters.
In life, Alice enjoyed gardening, miniatures, doll-collecting, quilting, and other crafts. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Alice and Nolan were avid rock-hounds; they were members of a local rock-hunting club in Hillsboro.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Johnson of Christmas Valley, OR; Donna Skeels and husband Francis of North Plains, OR; and, Nancy Nolen and her husband Wayne of Harleton, TX. She was also survived by two sisters, Olivia Klein of Rochester, IN and Betty Lang of Brownsville, IN. She was survived by 10 grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Lewis, granddaughter, Nola Alice Lewis, her parents Gottlibe and Dora Ruede, and two brothers, Junior Ruede and Raymond Ruede.
