Alvin F. Greener, 88, died July 25, 2019.Al was born August 1, 1930. He was the only child of Frank and Marie Greener. He was a lifetimeresident of Buck Mountain and Pumpkin Ridge. He grew up far from town. During his early school years,he attended a one-room school located at the corner of his parent’s property. In later school years, dueto the distance to school, Al rode his horse to the bus stop. He then attended North Plains Elementaryand Hillsboro Union High School. His interest in horses was renewed when he bought two horses in1986. He owned a couple more horses since. Al graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1948.He married Blanche Bozich on January 12, 1951 in Vancouver, Washington.During his life, he logged timber for individuals plus logged in the Tillamook Burn, farmedstrawberries, prunes and Christmas trees. Besides farming and logging, he also worked for AladdinTrailer Company, Gunderson Brothers and Freightliner as a welder. He also worked as a mechanic forFreightliner and made repairs and maintenance on his own vehicles. After 17 years, he retired fromFreightliner, then delivered rock with his dump truck.He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Pythius Lodge and a member of the North PlainsHistorical Society.Al loved hunting and fishing, He also enjoyed playing pinochle, going to auctions and going to thecasino as well as visiting with friends and neighbors.Al is survived by his wife Blanche, daughter Teresa (Jim) Eakin, son Tony (Judy) Greener, twogranddaughters, one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter.Services will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 11:00 am at Donelson Funeral Chapel, receptionfollowing then interment at Valley Memorial Park.
