Ardath Vernice Evans
Ardath Vernice Evans, a resident of North Plains, died on November 10, 2017 in Portland. She was 85 years of age.
Ardath was born on May 14, 1932 in Wister, Oklahoma and she was the daughter of Herbert and Elsie (Adair) Harris. She grew up in Oklahoma and Arkansas during the Great Depression moving around with her family where they could find work.
On January 8, 1948 she married Raymond Evans in Albuquerque, New Mexico and in 1958, they moved to a farm in North Plains, Oregon. Ardath worked as a farm hand and a homemaker. She also worked for Bird's Eye Cannery and as an Avon Representative. She enjoyed caring for others and cooking for her family. She was associated with Jehovah's Witness Church in Forest Grove.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond, daughter, Randie Ray, son, Rod Evans and sisters, Joyce Hale, Delsie Fay Coleary and Euba Ledford along with 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death be her sister, Jean and brother Donald.
A visitation will be on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Donelson Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:00 am also at Donelson Funeral Chapel. Private Interment will take place at Fir Lawn Memorial Park. Contributions may be made in memory of Ardath to the Union Gospel Mission in Portland, Oregon.
