Hillsboro, Oregon resident, Barbara Daun Bellamy passed away, Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Kaiser Westside Medical Center in Hillsboro.
Barbara was born Jun 4, 1935 to Elmore F. & Twila (Morton) Wulf in Hillsboro, OR. Before marriage she worked at Imperial Feed where she met her husband, Iven. Barbara used to joke that she would never marry a farmer. Together they raised four children; Paul, Kenneth, Wendy and Maureen. Barbara’s family grew to include five grandchildren; Robert, Katie, Olivia, Emilee and Victoria. Now she has seven great-grandchildren; Phinlee, Christopher, Karis, Hezekiah, Mason, Liberty and just arrived baby, Talon and one bonus great grandchild, Jeremiah. She is also survived by her four siblings and their families.
Always one to have knitting needles or crochet hooks in her hands, Barbara crocheted and donated many receiving blankets for the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Beaverton. She loved to write and penned various newsletters as well as having a column: Living By Faith. Barbara always kept her family informed on her current honest thoughts. She wrote stories to some grand nieces and grand nephews. Thursday’s were her days to drive to the Oregon Coast.
Barbara loved God with every breath she took. One time a doctor visited her at home and wrote in their medical chart, “this woman really does live on prayer and faith!”
Barbara enjoyed her rose garden. Through the years she helped to plant the vegetable garden and canned much of the produce. Later, when Iven planted the garden, she would help take the extra food to the food bank. Barbara, donated regularly to various charities. She lived with a heart to help others.
Through the years, Barbara had developed a special bond with her nephew, Matthew. He was born with Zellweger’s Syndrome and she prayed for Matthew daily. During Barbara’s last conversation with her brother Brian, she could not talk, but she could hear. When her nephew, Matthew was mentioned by name her face lit up and became animated. She moved her head around as if trying to talk but couldn’t get the words out. When Matthew, who is unable to speak, heard of his Auntie Barb’s passing, he communicated with his machine stating, “It’s awesome that she is healed and she is with God!”
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2194 SE Minter Bridge Rd, Hillsboro, OR 97123. Rev. Steve Nicodemus will officiate and a reception will immediately follow the services. Barbara was laid to rest with her husband at the Willamette National Cemetery.
