It is with uncomfortable necessity that we, Ben's family, must make the announcement regarding his passing. Ben was 45, born on October 7, 1979, in Jackson, Mississippi. Then 8 months later, he became the 11th of 13 children in the Walker family. His quiet, tentative demeanor was soon engulfed with all the loving attention and "mothering" care given by his older sisters. Ben grew up to be inquisitive and adventurous, and particularly good at both basketball and soccer. School classrooms were not his favorite learning environment, so home schooling provided that, plus opportunities to serve shut-ins via Meals-on-Wheels. He and his "twin" sister, as they were just 2 months apart, were constant companions and complemented each other nicely. If one was short of a clever idea, the other had just the perfect suggestion.
The transitions most people experience as they go through life can be a challenge at times, and they were for Ben, but the one element that was a constant was the love and support of his brothers and sister directed his way. The main thing they communicated to Ben was that he was "Always Loved and Never Forgotten."
Benjamin passed away December 4, 2024, in Portland, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph; his sister, Tracy; and his mother, Elizabeth. He is survived by his son, Emery; his father, Gary; brothers, Aaron, Patrick, Brian, and Christopher; sisters, Glenna, Jennifer, Cynthia, Andrea, Michelle, and Carolyn; 2 sisters-in0law, 4 brothers-in-law; as well as 51 nieces and nephews.
We his family, trust Ben into our Heavenly Father's care and gracious comfort; and place Ben's remains close by his sister, Tracy, at Fir Lawn Memorial Park, Hillsboro, Oregon.
