Betty Jean Frantz was born September 30, 1926, in Ada Minnesota to John and Ila Mae Alexander. They came to Oregon when she was two, finally settling in Hillsboro, OR when she was in the 4th grade. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1944 and took one year of piano and voice at Pacific University in Forest Grove. She passed away at 95 on February 16th, 2022.
On Sept. 30, 1945, she married Tom Frantz. He passed away in 1990, just short of their 45th anniversary. Also preceding her in death was her brother Don Alexander and son-in-law Russell Bertrand.
She is survived by two daughters, Anita Bertrand, and Deborah Kingsley (Mike); 3 grandchildren, Dawn Brown (Steve), Sherri Webster (Scott), and Michael Kingsley; 4 great-grandchildren, Mark Toman, Samantha Lewin, Dillon Webster, and Rachel Webster, and many extended family members and friends that she tried to keep in contact with over the years.
She worked almost 29 years for Portland General Electric in Hillsboro and Tigard. In 1994 she moved to Eugene, OR.
Her faith was very important to her, and she was active in the Hillsboro Methodist Church until she moved to Eugene in 1994, where she went to the Baptist Church and then to the Wesley Methodist Church. She lived at Sheldon Oaks until her death. She took great joy in sending cards, letters, and pictures to her many friends and family. She also enjoyed traveling and took many trips with both family and friends. She was gentle, loving and caring, and will be missed by all.
A funeral at Fir Lawn Mortuary will be held Saturday, March 12th at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Greenhill Humane Society in Eugene, where here beloved cat Missy was from, or the American Cancer Society.
