Beverly Gwendolyn Clymore

Beverly Gwendolyn (Gwen) Clymore passed away November 25, 2016 at the age of 88 years. She was born November 2, 1928 in Rockwell City, Iowa to Kathryn Bode and J. Clinton Green. She spent her early years on their 640 acre farm and then in the town of Rockwell City.

Her family moved to Vancouver, WA in 1943 for work at the shipyards and Alcoa Aluminum Company, and she graduated from Vancouver High School. She moved to Portland, OR and worked at Montgomery Ward for over 20 years, starting as a typist and becoming the first female District Sales Manager nationwide. After Wards closed, she established a successful career in Real Estate. She sold mostly new construction in the Hillsboro, Sherwood & Scappoose areas before retiring in 2005.

She married Guy Rexford Clymore Oct 1, 1949, he proceeded her in death in 1997. Together they raised 5 children in Cedar Mill on their small farm. She held leadership roles in PTA and 4-H programs that the whole family participated in. She was a role model in planning and preparation.

Gwen and Rex enjoyed many years of travel together covering Europe, Mexico & Hawaii. She loved the warm weather and after Rex passed away, she spent winters in Florida. She also was a huge Trail Blazer fan, sharing her season tickets with her family.

She is survived by her 5 children, Deborah Roberts, Denise (Don) Tucker, Diane (Rob) Stone, James Clymore, and Colleen Koch. She has 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Teresa Davis.

The family invites friends to join us at an open house celebrating her life on Saturday Dec. 17th from 1 - 5 pm at The Jackson School House, 450 NE Harewood St, Hillsboro 97124. In lieu of flowers, remembrances should go to the Phillips Cemetery c/o Helvetia Community Church, 11295 NW Helvetia Rd, Hillsboro, OR 97124 and the Kevin Currie Scholarship fund at Clark College Foundation. There will be a private burial at Phillips Cemetery.
