Obituary for Boyd Kennedy Keefer
Boyd Kennedy Keefer of Sherwood, Oregon, died peacefully at home from leukemia on November 17, 2017 surrounded by his wife Hadley (Johnson) Keefer, son Collin and brother Paul. Boyd was born on November 20, 1948 in Cedar Mill, Oregon to Royal and Eleanor (Irvine) Keefer. He graduated from Cedar Mill Grade School, and graduated from Sunset High School in 1966.
Boyd joined the Naval Air Force and served in the Vietnam war for two tours of duty. On his return to Oregon, he completed a B.S. degree in biology from Portland State University. He married Pamela Talley who predeceased him in 2008. He is survived by his brothers Bruce, Harry, Neal and Paul Keefer and sister Myra Keefer Terziev, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Boyd was the owner of Keefer Plumbing, a plumbing contracting company, which he operated for 40+ years. He lived in semi-rural Oregon for many years, having raised sheep and horses. His farm in Sherwood, a horse boarding facility, houses more than 30 horses. He enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, boating, fishing and looked forward each year to the annual release of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. As a lover of animals and the great outdoors, he enjoyed hiking and being in nature.
A celebration of Boyd's life is planned for December 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hoffman Farms Store event barn in Scholls, Oregon.
