Carl “Bud” Jorgensen, 89, long time resident of Gales Creek, Oregon, died December 7, 2019.Bud was born in White River, South Dakota on February 23, 1930, to Carl and Pearl (Butterfield) Jorgensen. He spent his younger years growing up in South Dakota and moved with his family to Oregon in 1941, where they settled in Scappoose. Bud graduated from Scappoose high school in 1948, serving as class Salutatorian.He joined the Air Force in 1952 and met his future wife Norma while home on leave (aided by some match-making by Bud’s sister Shirley). Bud and Norma were married in Denver, Colorado on March 28, 1953 and celebrated 66 years of marriage this year. After his military service they made their home in Scappoose, Aloha, and in 1962 moved to their long-time residence in Gales Creek, in a home which Bud built himself, and where he lived until his passing.After building houses with his father during the 1950s, Bud started working at Tektronix, where he was an electronics technician and later in management. He retired from Tek in 1983 and spent the rest of his years farming his property in Gales Creek.Bud loved his family, the stock market, and his farm. And sadly, the Seattle Mariners have lost another die-hard fan that stuck with them through good times and bad.Bud was preceded in death by his sister Shirley Butcher. Survivors include his wife Norma; daughters, Diane Jorgensen of Gales Creek OR, Carol Griffin of Forest Grove, OR, and Sharon (Don) Ehly of Forest Grove OR; and grand-daughter Rachel Ehly of Forest Grove.
