Colleen Condit Martindale, 86, Hillsboro, Oregon, died July 27, 2016 at home of natural causes with family present. She was an amazingly sweet, kind, caring, gracious, humble and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Colleen was born March 4, 1930 in Grants Pass, Oregon, the only child of Irving Robert and Helen Bowers Condit. She lived in Grants Pass until her graduation from Grants Pass High School in 1948.
Colleen attended University of Oregon and married William Richard (Dick) Martindale February 11, 1950. Dick's job took them to Portland, Seattle, Denver and then to Hillsboro for the last 49 years. Wherever they lived, she always made a warm, comfortable and welcoming home for Dick and their three children.
Colleen was proud of her Irish heritage, joking that she was a tough Irish girl and nothing could get her down. She also was proud of her 82 year friendship with her best friend Cecily Spitz; and also being an Oregon native.
She was a wonderful cook, liked to knit and sew, liked to have a beautiful yard and garden, and followed football and basketball on TV. She never had an unkind word about anyone and made many friends along the way. Her warmth and kindness were felt by all who were around her. She really lived a simple life, loving her home and family, taking joy in every visit, phone call and letter.
A small graveside service will be held August 2, 2p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Dick.
Survivors include her son, Rick Martindale; daughters Linda Bisnett and Barb Seeger (Adam) Green; six grandchildren Casey Seeger, Helen Bisnett (Steve) Edginton, Cody Seeger, Stephen Bisnett, Wyatt Martindale and Riley Martindale; and three great-grandchildren, Tanner, Avery and Lyla.
Remembrances may be made to a charity of your choosing. Arrangements by Donelson Funeral Chapel, Hillsboro.
