Cynthia J Anderson was born in St Paul, MN to Edwin C Ellingson and Ivy J Berg Ellingson. She spent her early years there until several of her father's job changes caused moves to Hillsboro and Newberg, OR before settling in Green Acres, WA (East Spokane). After graduating from high school, she attended Whitworth College for a year. While visiting family in Hillsboro, she met Harold G Anderson on a blind date. They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church (the current Walters Cultural Center) on June 18, 1949. Harold and Cynthia celebrated 55 years of marriage before his death in January of 2005.
Most of Cynthia's life was dedicated to raising her three children and helping her parents as they aged. However, she also volunteered for many hours at Trinity Lutheran, Hillsboro Soroptomists, and the Hillsboro Senior Center. After several years, she became the Director of the Senior Center. In retirement, Harold and Cynthia enjoyed their travel trailer, World Mark resorts, and volunteering at Zion Lutheran Church.
Cynthia is survived by her brothers James, Eric, and Larry (Pam) Ellingson. She was preceded in death by her brother Jerry Ellingson. She is also survived by her children Nancy, Mark (DeeAnn), and Michael (Bobbie) and three grandchildren Kevin, Bradley (Christina), and Elise.
A graveside service will be on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 11:00 am at Fir Lawn Memorial Park followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Donelson Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
