Dale Raymond Kappel

June 12, 1939 — October 5, 2023

Cornelius, Oregon resident, Dale Raymond Kappel, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on October 5, 2023, at Tuality Hospital in Hillsboro, Oregon, at the age of 84. He was born on June 12, 1939, in Forest Grove, Oregon, to his parents Ted and Virginia Kappel.

Dale pursued an education in diesel mechanics at the Oregon Technical Institute in Klamath Falls, Oregon, where he earned his associate degree. His passion for mechanics led him to a successful career in heavy equipment service and sales in the logging and construction industry. He was highly regarded by his peers and valued for his expertise and dedication. Outside of work, Dale was an avid hunter and fisherman, always seeking adventure and tranquility in the natural world.

“Dale was a dedicated family man who always provided or his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was always more comfortable in smaller towns rather than large cities. However, dad's job took him to locations as far away as Japan. Dale instilled his conservative beliefs in his children, which helped both his kids to be successful in their own right. His wife Judy was his junior high and high school sweetheart from forest Grove. They had been married for over 62 years at the time of his death,” wrote his family.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Virginia Kappel; and his daughter, Kim Weigle. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Kappel of Cornelius, Oregon, and their son, Jeff Kappel of Oak Point, Texas.

Dale’s final wish was that he be cremated and have his ashes returned to the wilderness that he loved so much, just like his parents before him. I'll bet he is on a fishing stream, or has his sights on a large bull elk, somewhere up in heaven right now! His ashes will be scattered at the North Fork of the Nehalem River, a place where he found peace and serenity throughout his life.

He was a devoted husband and a caring father, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and friends, but his memory will continue to be cherished. Dale Raymond Kappel will be remembered for his passion, his dedication, and his love for the natural world. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Pacific Grove Senior Living in his honor.
