Hillsboro, OR Dennis Hudson Maginnis, 76, died Monday, October 3rd, 2016 at Tuality Hospital in Hillsboro surrounded by his wife and children.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Jeanne; his sons, Dan (Lori) of Camas, WA, Tim (Marjorie) of Chico, CA and Patrick (Gwen) of Lee's Summit, MO; 5 grandchildren (Amanda, Megan, Taylor, Evan, and Kathleen) and 1 great grandchild, Carter; brother Mike and sister Ann. He was proceeded in death by his mother Mildred, father Allen, and brother Patrick.
Born in Eugene, OR and raised in Yreka, CA, he graduated from Yreka High School in 1958 before moving on to San Jose State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1963.
In high school he was active in baseball and loved tinkering with cars.
Dennis worked in sales at Maginnis Chevrolet for several years before taking over the business from his father in 1972. During his helm at Maginnis Chevrolet, the company won several awards in sales. In 1982 he sold the business and moved to Chico, CA where he continued to work in the automobile business until his retirement in 2004. Following retirement Dennis and his wife moved to Hillsboro, OR, a suburb of Portland, OR.
Dennis enjoyed attending his son's sporting events and was an avid golfer in Chico where he spent quality time with friends on their weekly golf outings.
During his time in Oregon, he enjoyed reading and was a long time active board member of the Orenco Station condominium community serving as a key member of the building committee.
Dennis will be remembered as a caring and hardworking husband and father, a wonderful role model to his sons, and a friend to many.
A gathering remembering Dennis will be held at a later date at Orenco Station in Hillsboro, OR.
