On June 27, 2011, Dolores Caballero peacefully passed over while surrounded by her family.
She was born the eldest of seven to Reynaldo and Carolina Murillo in Durango, Mexico.
Dolores married Miguel Caballero (deceased 1986) and they eventually immigrated to the southwest U.S. in the late 1940s to work under the Bracero Program, then as agricultural workers in California and Oregon. The Caballeros ultimately took residence in Hillsboro, Oregon, in 1965, one of Washington County's first Latino families to settle in the area. She is credited for starting the first Spanish Adventist Church in Hillsboro. Known for her loving nature, and deep faith, Dolores enjoyed spending time in her flower garden, reading her Bible, and laughing with her family who loved her so.
Dolores is preceded in death by her sons, Ernest Caballero and Gabriel Caballero.
She is survived by her children, Velia Galindo, Frances Quesada, Maria Caballero Rubio, Norma Lopez, Silvia Caballero Fay, Carolina Caballero, Michael Caballero Jr., Martha Caballero, Rosa Caballero Jones; and her 22 grandchildren, Charlie Galindo, Dolores Ortega, Albert Quesada Jr., Lydia, Belinda, Lila and Ernestina Caballero, Carmen Caballero Rubio, Marta, Tony, Johnny, and Tonya Gonzales, Anjel Adolfsson, Irma, Araceli, and Salvador Cortez, Fahad and Faisel Aljuwaidi, Gabriel Caballero, Sofia Dominguez, Priscilla Gonzalez and Celina Gonzalez; and 40 great-grandchildren.
