Dominick Joseph Rosato passed away at a Hillsboro hospital on February 8, 2011, with family by his side. He was born September 20, 1920, in Yonkers, New York, to Nicola and Anna Rosato.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Donelson ~ Fir Lawn Memorial Center, 1070 W. Main St., Hillsboro, OR, 97123. Private interment will be held at Fir Lawn Memorial Gardens in Hillsboro.
"Don" was born and raised in Yonkers, NY, and was a graduate of Yonkers High School in 1938. He then joined the Navy and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He moved to Oregon in 1948 and married Sylvia Laughlin that same year in Stevenson, Washington. He worked as a manager in the Insurance Industry for 15 years and retired from that field in 1968, whereby he eventually owned the Beaverton, Hillsboro and Tualatin franchises of the J.J. North's Family Buffet restaurants.
Don was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Hillsboro, a member of the BPOE Beaverton Lodge #1989, and a former member of the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce.
Don is preceded in death by his son, John.
Don is survived by his wife, Sylvia of Hillsboro; his son James & wife Michele of Hillsboro; Jane Rosato of Hillsboro; 4 brothers, Anthony, Daniel, Peter, and Joseph; 2 grandchildren, Christina Slater of Yamhill and Amy Rosato of Salem; and 2 great grandchildren, Katie and Kyle Slater.
