Donald Hugh Mackenzie passed away at the age of 88, in Portland, after a brief illness. He was born in Hillsboro on May 2nd 1924 to Herbert and Alberta Mackenzie. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High school and the University of Oregon, where he was a member of the Chi Psi fraternity. His college career was interrupted by WWll, where he piloted the B-25 "One for the Gipper" in the South Pacific. He returned to U of O to finish his education, and there met the love of his life, Glenna Burnett, who he married in 1948. They were married until her passing in 2004.
In 1948 he returned to Hillsboro and joined his father, and brother Robert in the family owned Ford dealership, MacKenzie Ford, which he ran until his retirement in the late 1980's. Throughout that time he was active in the community in a number of organizations, boards and commissions. He was an avid golfer, Duck fan and a legendary gin rummy player. His passion for golf was shared by Glenna and was the motivation for them moving to a home on the golf course at Summerfield in Tigard and purchasing a townhome at the Oasis Country Club in Palm Desert. He maintained both of these until he moved back to Hillsboro in 2011.
He is survived by his sons, Stephen (Tootie), John, Roger (Robin) and daughter, Julie Armstrong (Robert) and grandchildren, Alex MacKenzie, Olivia MacKenzie, Katie MacKenzie Miller, Kelly MacKenzie Lovell, Lauren Armstrong and Erik Armstrong and his sister in law Lou MacKenzie.
