Donald E. Mercer, died November 23, at home.
Celebration on Life will be held on December 19, 2010 at the River House at Rood Bridge Park, from Noon to 3:00 p.m.
The son of Elza E. Mercer and Viola B. (Messinger) Mercer, Don was born November 15, 1936 in Cornelius, Oregon.
He lived all of his life in the Hillsboro area. He graduated from Hil-High in 1956 and married Mary A. Ely on March 23, 1962. Don was a Washington County Deputy Sheriff in the early 1960's and served in the Air National Guard from 1957 to 1963.
He worked for Tektronix in Research and Development from 1959 to 1992, and retired from Tektronix in 1992.
In 2006, Don retired from Leupold & Stevens. After retirement from Leupold, Don volunteered his time in the hangers at the Hillsboro Classic Aircraft, Premier Space Systems Museum in Hillsboro. He immensely enjoyed this work because of his love of Aircraft. Don is preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. He is survived by his wife, Mary; Sons, Ed, Larry, and steven; Daughter, Teresa; 15 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; and Sister, Marvel Swearingen.
