On June 11th, 2024, Donald Charles Walter (88), loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at his home. Don was born on May 14, 1936 to Bert and Elsie Walter in Hillsboro, Oregon. After graduating from Hillsboro Union High School (Hilhi) in 1954, he worked on the family farm until he was drafted into the Army in 1959. He served 6 years and then returned to North Plains, where he was a lifelong farmer.
Don took great pride in his community and served as a member of the North Plains School Board. He treasured his family and enjoyed assisting them with their projects, supporting his grandchildren at their events, camping, fishing, and traveling with his wife. He looked forward to visiting with friends and family, playing cards, completing puzzles and eating cookies.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his two sisters, Jean Larsen and Elaine Dobbin. He leaves behind his wife, Judy of 33 years; son, Bruce, and Bruce's significant other, Janice, along with Bruce's step daughter and her children; son and daughter in law, Scott and Heather, and their children, Natalie, Dylan, and Tiffany; his stepson, Doug, and his wife, Cari, and their family; his nephews, Ken and Ron Dobbin and their families , and niece, Cindy Larsen and her family.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 12:30 at Fir Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1070 W. Main Street, Hillsboro, OR 97123. If you would like to memorialize Don, you could make a donation to your local FFA Chapter in his name.
