Dora lived a beautiful life of 102 years, 4 months, and 29 days. Her life was filled with people who loved and adored her. Born on December 25, 1920, in Highwood, Illinois, Dora lived most of her life in Hillsboro, Oregon. She was happiest when she was with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her dogs. Dora was an expert gardener. She was brilliant at canning foods and making strawberry freezer jelly. She was well known for her heavenly cooking, especially her zucchini patties.
Dora married Jack Cleo Moor on August 17, 1936. They owned a large apple orchard on the corner of Sunrise Lane and NE 9th Avenue in Hillsboro. They grew strawberries and walnuts, and supplied the community with fresh produce for over twenty years. Dora and Jack were members of Evergreen Christian Center and their faith was important in their daily lives. Dora had 3 children, 12 grandchildren and dozens of great-grandchildren, who she cherished with all of her heart.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her daughters Dora (Dolly) Arlt and Patricia (Trish) Simon, and her grandchildren Ron Moor, Cyndi Wegener, and Anthony (Tony) Luethe. Dora is survived by her son Jefferson Moor and grandchildren Ed Arlt, David Arlt, Chris Arlt, Erich Arlt, Tara Lewis, Marsha Ellwood, Jackie Jeppesen, Donna Pickelsimer, and Jeff Moor Jr.
Our family is eternally grateful to the staff of Maryville Nursing Home who skillfully cared for Dora in her final years of life.
