Dorothy May Neidigh, 93, died at her home in Hillsboro, Oregon, January 26, 2011. Interment was held at Fir Lawn Cemetery in Hillsboro.
A memorial service will be held at Hillsboro Friends Church, 332 NE 6 th Avenue, Hillsboro, Oregon, Saturday, February 19, at 1:00 pm.
Miss Neidigh was born August 10, 1917, in Iowa. She was the seventh of eight children of Edwin May Neidigh and Sallie Rowe Delancy.
She was preceded in death by Clarence, Nellie, Kirpatrick, Wharton, Lau, Clair, Martha Epperson, and Earl.
She is survived by her niece Jeanne Weedman and husband Vern, and by great-nephew Dan Weedman and great niece Sallie Weedman Wood, and other nieces and nephews across the country.
Dorothy, along with her sisters and mother moved to Oregon in 1947. She always lived with family members and was a help and support to them. She and her sister Martha found work at Standard Insurance for several years, then both went to work at Tektronics until they retired, Dorothy after 28 years when she was 69.
She liked to travel in the western US, and loved family trips to the Oregon Coast. She enjoyed gardening and preserving the produce.
Dorothy joined Hillsboro Friends Church in 1966, and served in many positions, her favorites being teaching Sunday School and supporting the missions. She taught Children's Sunday School for 40 years. Her memory work drills gave generations of youth a great foundation for their knowledge of scripture.
She supported scores of missionaries with prayer, funding, and letter of encouragement. Her cards and gifts for entire families marked holidays and special events. A highlight of her life was a trip across South America, while visiting her niece who was a missionary in Bolivia.
Dorothy's Christianity was the basic force in her life. She continued to give her testimony in a meaningful manner even in her final days.
She personified the faithful Christian servant.
