Ellen E. Gerdes

Ellen E. Gerdes age 70 of Hillsboro died in Hillsboro on April 2, 2012. She was born March 7, 1942 in Walla Walla, Washington to Elva and Robert (Hudson) Pettry. She moved to Hillsboro at a young age and graduated from Hillsboro High School. On October 5, 1968 Ellen married Vernon Gerdes in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death in 2000. Ellen was a homemaker who enjoyed collecting most anything and word games. She was a member of Bethel Full Gospel Church. Survivors include sons Cory Gerdes and wife Sarah, Robert Gerdes and Kevin Gerdes; daughter Carol Edwards and husband Ed; brothers Timothy Rice, Steve Rice, Robert Pettry and Eugene Pettry; sisters Sandi Fuhrman, Sherry Rice and Kathy Rice. Ellen was preceded in death by her sister Robin Rice. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A. M. Friday April 6 at Fir Lawn Memorial Park in Hillsboro. Viewing at the funeral home will be from 2:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M. on Thursday and 9:00 A. M. until 10:30 A. M. on Friday.
