Eugene R. Buelt

Longtime Hillsboro resident, Mr. Eugene R. Buelt, 92 passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023, surrounded by family at his home in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Eugene was born September 2, 1930, to Henry & Eulalia (Rotert) Buelt in Elgin, Nebraska. He entered the U.S. Army and had served in Korea until he was honorably discharged September 28, 1953. Eugene had moved to Hillsboro in 1957 where he had worked as Certified Respiratory Equipment Technician at OHSU for 30 years from which he retired. He was a member of the St. Matthew Catholic Church & St. Vincent de Paul where he had volunteered. Eugene loved to travel and spend time with his family.

Eugene is survived by his siblings, Clem Josten, Donna Malensky, Laverna Spitzenberger, Donald and Dale Buelt; wife of 54 years, Virginia Buelt; children, Suzy & Mark Schafer, Brian & Leilani Buelt, Glenn & Libby Buelt and Cindy Buelt; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Fir Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1070 West Main Street, Hillsboro, OR 97123. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2023, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 475 SE Third Ave. Hillsboro, OR 97123. Fr. Rito Guzman will officiate. A reception will immediately follow the services at the parish hall. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2023, at the Fir Lawn Memorial Park where he will be laid to rest with military honors.
