Evelyn passed away on March 10, 2011, in a Portland hospital with family by her side. She was born September 14, 1914, on the family farm in Hillsboro, Oregon, to Frank and Tena Schulmerich.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Donelson ~ Fir Lawn Memorial Center, 1070 W. Main St., Hillsboro, OR 97123.
Evelyn graduated from Hillsboro High School and worked as a telephone operator in Hillsboro and as a vocalist for the Ivan Koeber Dance Band, where she met and married Harold Dean of Beaverton. They resided in Portland and raised two children, Deanna and Frank Dean.
Evelyn worked for many years as a beauty salon receptionist. She loved her job and had many friends.
Evelyn later married Joe Delfino of Portland. They had a very active social life and did extensive traveling around the world.
She was an avid collector of books, antiques, and art. Evelyn loved to entertain and was a wonderful cook. She was active at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Beaverton. Her faith in the Lord was absolute and inspiring. Evelyn was gracious and compassionate and she deeply loved her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Delfino, and her son Frank Dean. She is survived by her daughter Deanna Enger; 2 step-daughters, LouAnn Bisco and Mary DeBold; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
