Fern (Tipton) Marlow, 94, passed away of natural causes Saturday, March 17th, 2018.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, March 24th, 2018 at Donelson Funeral Chapel, 1070 West Main Street, Hillsboro, Oregon.
Fern was born in Teague, Texas on January 13th, 1924 at her grandmother’s farm. On August 28th, 1942 Fern married the love of her life and husband of forty-six years, Fred L. Marlow Jr. During WWII, Fern helped with the war efforts and worked in an aircraft factory in Dallas, Texas. After the war, she split her time raising her family, working as a bookkeeper and working alongside her father at his company, Anchorage Bedding and Furniture. Those who knew Fern looked up to her for her honesty, big heart, and resilience – she was a breast cancer survivor. Fern wore many hats throughout her life: daughter, sister, mother, grandmother (Memaw), and friend. Fern loved her family, loved God, and loved beans and cornbread.
Fern is survived by her beloved children Patricia Santa and Fred L. Marlow 111; daughter-in-law, Jean Ellen Marlow; six grandchildren, Rhonda, Michael, Michelle, Freddie, Caitlin, Jessi; five great-grandchildren, JR, Ethan, Seth, Max, Grace; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Willie Dailey, Raymond Dailey; father, PP Tipton; siblings, Billie Ray Webb, Melvin Tipton; grandson, Marvin Bright; and her devoted husband, Fred L. Marlow Jr.
