Fosteenia Eyvone (Arndt) Keenon affectionately known as Frosty, was born in Woods
County, Oklahoma on April 29, 1931 to Leroy and Mamie (Taylor) Arndt. Her family
moved to Oregon in 1941 and she met her future husband Richard when he returned
home from WWII. They married in 1948, settled in Jordan Creek in a rustic cabin
without electricity or indoor plumbing, and went on to raise their three children on a 20
acre farm north of Cornelius. After the boys left home she began a career in electronics
and retired from Intel in 1993. She always volunteered for overtime and never met a
piece of Intel swag she didn’t want to bring home for her grandkids.
Frosty had a few major loves in life: her family, gardening, collecting figurines, and
sweets. She would do anything for her family including acting as the den mother of her
boys’ Cub Scout troop, hosting all of the major holiday dinners with the best mashed
potatoes, and joining in family trips - always with her trusty rain bonnet in hand. She
had the greenest of thumbs and loved gardening - crediting it with keeping her fit. She
collected figurines for most of her life and had a few recurring themes in her collection
(elephants, hummingbirds, bells, and Santas). And she loved sweets so much - she
kept her candy dishes stocked, baked the best pies, and started a ‘goody cookie club’
with one of her best friends.
She was also kind, generous, progressive in many of her beliefs, and instilled the value
of a strong work ethic in all who knew her. She saw the best in people. She was quiet
but had a large presence, not shy but dreaded having her picture taken, and she could
(and would) strike up a conversation and share a giggle with anyone. She was deeply
loved and will be dearly missed.
Frosty was preceded in death by her husband Richard and son Allen, and survived by her
3 sons and their wives (Steven and Denette, Wade and Kerry, and Randy and Kimm),
her 6 grandchildren (Kristin, Michael, Michelle, Anais, Katie, and Atticus), and 3
great-grandchildren (Richard, Milo, and Finn).
May she rest in peace with her husband, son, and siblings.
Graveside services have been held for immediate family. Fosteenia’s ‘Celebration of
Life’ will be held at a later date to be announced.
