Frances Slater was born oct. 6, 1920, in Spokane, Washington. She died on Feb. 27, 2012, at her home in Beaverton, Oregon.
A memorial service will be held at the home of her son on Sunday, March 10, 2012. Private interment has been held at Fir Lawn Memorial Park in Hillsboro, Oregon.
As a young girl she grew up on a 350 acre wheat ranch at Four Lakes, WA, 14 miles south of Spokane. She graduated from Washington Elementary School and Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, and attended Eastern Washington College of Education in Cheney Wash.
She married Edgar E. Pautz in 1941 and spent the next 13 years traveling to many different points. Eventually coming to Hillsboro she married Wayne Slater and has resided in this area for years.
She was active with 4-H, cooking, sewing, Forestry and Entomology. In scouting she had Cub Scouts and Brownies, and wrote Scouting News.
For a period of time she wrote community news for several areas plus feature stories and Cuisine articles for the Hillsboro Argus. She also wrote for RuralLite, Grit and other publications.
In her later years, she enjoyed restoring antique doll clothes and designing doll clothes for friends.
Our beloved mother, grandmother is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Tiffany Renee Thompson and her daughter, Toneta Rae Winter. She is lovingly survived by her Son Brian Pautz and her daughter Kendy Thompson; as well as 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
