Gary Allen Arlint, 65, of Hillsboro, Ore., passed away Nov. 4, 2015 at home. He was born Feb. 5, 1950 in Bozeman, Mont. To Harold and Nadine (Barnes) Arlint. The family moved to Longview, Wa. In 1951 where he graduated from Mark Morris High School in 1968.
Gary worked at Pope & Talbot in Kalama for several years before moving to Hillsboro 36 years ago. Gary worked for Albertson's until he retired this past September. He had a memorable laugh and always greeted friends and shoppers with a smile. Gary prided himself in his work ethic and strong beliefs of right and wrong. He was generous and giving. Hobbies included collecting antiques, doing room make-overs and watching "Design on a Dime".
He is survived by a brother, Larry Arlint (Kari) of Kelso; his stepmother, Edith Arlint of Kelso; a stepbrother, Bob Brent (Donna) of Longview; a sister-in-law, Joy Brent of Forest Grove, Ore; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and friends Honor Tillman and Amber Tillman-Hartung (Ted). Amber felt like a daughter to Gary, who enjoyed watching her children Lora and Lee grow up.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, William Shorter; a baby sister, Linda Arlint; a stepbrother, Steve Brent; a stepsister, Karen Weddel (Dean); and his grandparents, Emery and Elsie (Kaufman) Arlint; and Chester and Mary (Whitaker) Barnes.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Donelson Funeral Chapel in Hillsboro. The Rev. Fama Partlow will officiate.
