He spent the early years after graduating at General Steamship where he met the ships coming in from around the world and oversaw them until their departure. He spent the next 30 years as a Realtor before he retired. Following retirement, Gary enjoyed nurturing his garden, in particular his tomato plants and painting. He was a wonderful artist whose work was included in community events and is treasured by family and friends.

Gary was a devoted father and family man. He also served his community as a Boy Scout leader. Gary was married to the love of his life, Bobbie, for over 61 years. In his later years, he greatly enjoyed the addition of grandchildren and great grandchildren in his life.
