Gary D. Hewitt
February 6, 1945 - January 9, 2017

Gary was born on February 9, 1945, in Albany, Oregon. His family settled in Sweet Home where he graduated from high school. Following high school, he attended and graduated from Oregon State University, and then went on to serve our country in the United States Air Force. Gary's chosen career was technology and the development of programs and hardware.

In 1997 Gary married Margaret A. Post. They remained in the Portland area for a number of years and eventually retired in Arizona, first in Lake Havasu and ultimately making their home in Tucson.

Gary enjoyed supporting his Oregon State Beavers, camping, motorcycle trips and rides with his long-time friend, Mike Latta, and building and working on home improvement projects. He also enjoyed traveling to visit with family and friends and to visit various historical sites. He especially enjoyed being able to spend time with his two grandsons.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Post, children Jason Hewitt (Amy), James Hewitt and Christina Leaeno (Jason) as well as two grandsons, JD Hewitt and JJ Leaeno, and two step-grandchildren Jodi Wynn Trent and Jacob Turner. His parents, Ione Miller Hewitt Kaufman and Oren J. Hewitt, sister, Bobbie Toliver and half-sister, Carolyn Wilson predeceased him.

A memorial service will be held on January 27, 2017 at 10:00 am, at Donelson-Fir Lawn Funeral Chapel in Hillsboro, Oregon, with interment at Willamette National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
