Grace Catherine Park

Grace Catherine Fladager Park died at age 86 in Hillsboro, Oregon after a brief illness, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Grace was born on November 3, 1926 to Henry and Signe Olivia Fladager Henricksen. She graduated from Rogers High School and attended Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington. In 1947 she married Bernard Eugene Park "Gene" (b. 1924, d. 1987). In addition to her husband, Gene, she was preceded in death by her brothers John Henricksen, Bob Henricksen, her sister, Helen Henricksen Good, and her grand-daughter, Viola Signe Olivia Fladager Park. Grace is survived by her sisters, Joyce Henricksen Erickson, Virginia Henricksen Zurfluh and Carol Henricksen Riffle. She is also survived by her four children, Dani Park, Jeanne Park Fraumeni, Philip Park and Fred Park, her son-in-law, David Fraumeni, and daughters-in-law, Stephanie Park and Debbie Park, her grandchildren Nathan Fraumeni and wife Tami, Eric Fraumeni and wife Jennifer, Joe Fraumeni and wife Tennessy, Kit Lahrson and wife Hannah, Jerod Park, Daniel Park and grand-daughter Taryn Park. In addition, she was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Ellie, Gavin and Paityn Fraumeni and Cydney and Olivia Lahrson.
Grace's early married life was spent in Alaska where she taught at various elementary schools. Subsequently, Grace and Gene and their family spent three years in the Boston, Massachusetts area while Gene attended graduate school. In the late sixties, Grace and Gene and family moved to Oregon. For the past 37 years Grace lived in Hillsboro, Oregon where she worked for many years as a medical bookkeeper and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hillsboro. Grace loved to garden, was an avid and talented pianist, authored several stories about her life in Alaska which were published in the "Alaska" magazine and took great joy in traveling and visiting with friends and family.
A memorial service to celebrate Grace's life followed by a reception will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, October 29, 2013.
