Helen Louise Woodruff, 96, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024, in Hillsboro, Oregon. She was born on May 27, 1928, in Portland, Oregon the eldest child of Bert and Ida Oller. She grew up on a farm raising pigs, which became her favorite animal. She attended a one room schoolhouse until 8th grade.
Helen was a homemaker and ran an in-home daycare for many years, where she nurtured and cared for countless children who grew up under her loving guidance. Her warm hospitality and caring nature touched the lives of many families in her community. was a devoted attendee for over 60 years at Orenco Presbyterian Church. She also spent many years volunteering with 4-H, sharing her love of crafts and gardening with the next generation. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that were cherished by her family and friends. She was also an avid fan of game shows and rarely missed an episode of her favorites. Helen had a special place in her heart for the Portland Trail Blazers and followed their games with enthusiasm.
Helen was preceded in death by Her brother Bill Oller, her beloved husband, Dale Alan Woodruff, and her children, Debra Jo Woodruff, and Dennis John Woodruff. She is survived by her granddaughter, Kelsey, and her great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Hannah, and Ronin.
Helen will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her love for her family, her generous spirit, and her passion for the simple joys of life will be remembered fondly.
A visitation will be held on August 14, 2024, at 12pm at Fir Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1070 W Main St, Hillsboro, OR 97123. A service will follow at 2:00 PM.
