In the gentle embrace of memories, we bid farewell to our cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Irene Margaret Newell Carlton. She was born on July 2, 1930 and peacefully called home to Jesus December 13, 2023 at the age of 93. She leaves behind a tapestry of love, faith, and cherished moments.
Irene hailed from humble beginnings, where her mother skillfully crafted clothing for her and her siblings. When college beckoned, Irene worked her way through nursing school. Her vivid stories of a lively childhood in Idaho ranged from playfully targeting siblings with BB guns to adventurous bus trips to Boise. In a touch of youthful rebellion, she even secretly pierced her ears.
Irene's life was shaped by Christian principles, exemplifying love, gratitude, and compassion, radiating the light of Christ in all her interactions. Through her ministry, Hats of Love, she skillfully created hats for the homeless, revealing her selfless and compassionate nature. Her earthly journey was characterized by the empathetic spirit of a nurse, embodying the teachings of the Bible.
Irene Margaret Newell Carlton is survived by her daughters Pamela (Jack) Blackwood, Lori (Roger) Kramer, her grandsons Erik (Emily) Lind, Jason (Katie) Lind, and her great-grandchildren Brystol Lind, Charlie Lind, and Luke Lind (due March 2024). Irene Margaret Newell Carlton now rests in the loving arms of our Savior, joining Scotty in the eternal presence of Jesus. As we mourn the physical separation, we take comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of the Lord.
Until we meet again.
