Irwin Meier

March 7, 1919 — November 13, 2015

Irvin Meier joined his beloved wife in paradise on November 13, 2015. He passed away a mere month and a day after losing his compass and constant companion of 75 years. Irv was born to Anna and Gottfrey Meier in Shattuck, Oklahoma on March 7, 1919. He spent his childhood in Shattuck before migrating to Oregon with his family as a teenager.

He met Thelma in Weston, Oregon and was married to her in Lewiston, Idaho on June 8th 1940. He and Thelma settled in Weston. Irv supported his family through his work as a mechanic, a profession at which he was particularly gifted. He retired in 1984. In retirement he and Thelma traveled around the country with most frequent trips to Pacific City, Oregon. They fell in love with Pacific City and lived there as full-time motor homers for a number of years before moving to Hillsboro in 2006.

Irv was the strong, silent type, but became a jokester who clowned around for the amusement of his family and friends in middle age. He would perform the "Teaberry Shuffle" on demand to great acclaim. He became a miniature golf ace while living in the Thousand Trails RV Park, and won many tournaments there.

Irvin is preceded in death by his beloved wife Thelma, his parents, brothers Gottfried, Edward, Harry, and Willie, and sisters Esther, Lenora, and Lavonna. He is survived by his son Gary (Darla) Meier of Duluth Minnesota, Daughter Sheri (Randy) Rahn, and grandchildren Fawn and Thadeus Rahn, all of Hillsboro, as well as his sister, Edna Brown of Victorville, California, his brother Marvin Meier of Tigard, and numerous nieces and nephew.
