James H. Cochran

July 31, 1933 — February 4, 2011

James H. (BEN) Cochran- Passed away on Feb. 4th 2011, surrounded by members of his family. Born in Claremore, OK July 31, 1933 to Walker Hawk Cochran & Myrtle Eugene (Lively) Cochran, he was one of six children.
The family moved to Gaston, Oregon in 1945, where James married Delores Jane (Fuller) Cochran. They moved to North Plains in the early 1960's, where they raised their 6 children.
James worked in the logging timber industry for the majority of his life. Logging took him to Alaska for some time and he loved to talk of the time he spent there and the beauty of the state. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends in the enjoyment of this pastime. He was a member of the Oregon National Guard during the early 1950's, till his honorable discharge in 1954.
Survived by sibling: Nancy Cochran, Forest Grove; Walter, wife LaRetta Cochran, Cove Orchard; Katherine (Katy) Merritt; George & wife Marge Cochran, Cornelius.
Children: sons: Tony Cochran, Cornelius; Rick, wife Lillian Cochran, North Plains; Jeff Cochran & Teresa Buchholz, Banks; daughters, Janet Duyck, Vernonia; son-in-law Matt & Terry Salinas, Hillsboro. Daughter-in-law Liz Cochran, Banks, twelve grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, the youngest born February 4, 2011.
James is preceded in death by his wife, Delores in 1984; son James Michael (Mikey) in 1997 and sister Leah Bates in 2007.
James was well liked at Forest Grove Rehabilitation & Care Center, being care for by their patient and loving team of care giving. They helped him enjoy his last days and assured his happiness. His smiling face will be greatly missed by all.
