James E. Martin

James E. Martin age 86 of Hillsboro, died in Hillsboro March 15, 2012. He was born March 24, 1925 in Holcomb, Kansas to Harley and Bessie May (Messerschmitt) Martin. James graduated from high school in Coolidge, Kansas. He served in the US Army in Europe in WWII. On May 16, 1943 he married Gladys Bules in Coolidge, Kansas. A resident of Hillsboro for 25 years. He worked in maintenance at Tektronix from the early 60's until the early 70's. After that he was a self employed handyman. James was a member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and woodcarving.
Survivors: wife Gladys Martin; sons Dennis Martin and Tracy Martin; daughters Joyce Grabner and Janet Mathews; sisters Harriet Mays and Evelyn Teegarden. 9 grandchildren 12 great grandchildren.
Private family committal services will be held at Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro.
