James J. Morrissey, 78, died Dec. 12, 2010.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Dec. 20, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 4265 SW Golf Course Road, in Cornelius.
James Joseph Morrissey was born April 27, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pa. He graduated from Bartram High School in 1950, where he played basketball for coach Jack Ramsay.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War era.
He came to Oregon in 1955 and worked for ESCO Steel in Portland.
He married Leona Bolton on Sept. 30, 2000, in Cornelius.
He lived in Forest Grove for the past 10 years and belonged to St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Cornelius.
He was preceded in death by a son, James J. Morrissey.
He is survived by his wife, Leona Morrissey; sons, Robert W., Mark A. and Michael J. Morrissey; daughters, Nancy Taylor, Karen Brown and Margaret Dea; brother, Thomas Morrissey; sister, Virginia Zook; 34 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
