John Calvin Grund

John Calvin Grund passed from this life on Thursday August 22, 2019 with his sons and a good friend in attendance at his home in Hillsboro. John was 93 years old.
He was born on October 17, 1925 as the 9th child of Louis Grund and Amelia Hogberg near Lake Of The Woods and the town of Baudette in northern Minnesota. His youth and formative years were knit with the tough circumstances of the great depression and World War II.
His father and family made their living in the enterprises of farming, logging and milling lumber. In 1964 John decided to try things in Oregon and the family moved. In Oregon he was drawn quickly to home building. Building came and remained his occupational passion producing many great friendships as well as good houses.
On January 17, 1955 John married Vivian Marie Wheelock and about that time also made his choice to serve God. Those two choices resulted in four sons Eric, Dan, John and Ted and ensured a safe and happy home life for them to grow in. It also ensured Christ was a constant influence.
John is survived by his four sons, 10 grandchildren: Wenona, Erin, Lars, Amber, Dale, Danielle, Geordan, Amelia, Abigail and Nicholas and 5 great grandchildren: Killian, Ezekiel, Lucy, Dulce and Dale.
