Joyce Marie Gilmore
October 11, 1927 - June 27, 2014
With deep sadness the family of Joyce Marie Gilmore note her passing on June 27th in Wilsonville after a half dozen years of declining health. She was born on October 11, 1927 to Grace B. and Robert M. Adams in Miami FL. Her father died when she was 13 and her mother moved Joyce and her three younger siblings to Stillwater, OK. In Stillwater she grew up, completed her education, and met her husband and the love of her life, Felix Bryan Gilmore. They had three children and moved to many locations in the Western US as Bryan pursued his career and provided for their family. In 1969 they moved to Hillsboro where Joyce lived for almost 30 years.Joyce was the quintessential daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She dedicated her life to the care and well being of her family. After the children were grown she became the primary caregiver for her mother. She took pleasure in the comforts of home. She was a wonderful cook. She was a skilled gardener and enjoyed reading a good novel. She worked for many years at Hillsboro Public Schools. She was active in a Hillsboro area garden club and several ladies exercise groups where she had many friends. She loved her animal companions; dogs and cats were drawn to her by her kind and sweet disposition. At 86 she outlived her husband and all of her siblings. She is survived by her children and their spouses (Lance and Karen Gilmore, Kirt Gilmore, and Lisa and Tim Tofte) and her grandchildren (Jordan Gilmore, Mitch Tofte, Matt Tofte and Bryan Gilmore). Joyce will be buried at the Old Scotch Church Cemetery in Hillsboro next to her beloved husband, Bryan, in a private family graveside service. We will all miss her immensely. Joyce was a caring and generous person and we are sure she would be honored if you care to make a donation to the charity of your choice in her memory.
