Kenneth Lee Felton
September 22, 1942-March 21, 2016
Ken was born in Hillsboro, Oregon September 22, 1942 to Ray and Martha Felton. He went to be with his Savior Jesus on the morning on March 21, 2016 with his wife Darline by his side.
Ken was known for his friendly smile, his love of his family, and his enjoyment of baseball and fishing. He enjoyed attending Dodger baseball games in Los Angeles when visiting his daughter Kimberlee and his son-in-law David and in going to Hillsboro Hops and Hilhi Football games with his son Kenny. One of his proudest collections was that over 100 baseball hats.
He went fishing at Hagg Lake, various lakes in Central Oregon, and one of his last trips was hiking in to Marion Lake and fishing from a raft. For 10 years he made annual trips to Kodiak AK where he fished with his son Kerry. Ken really enjoyed dogs and he had owned one ever since he was a youngster. His latest one, a golden retriever named Ginger, was his steady companion. They could often be seen walking along the road or in the orchard.
While in high school he met his future wife Darline Lee. They were married March 14, 1962 and marked their 54th anniversary while Ken was in the hospital. They had five children, Kenny, Karin (deceased), Katrina, Kerry (deceased), and Kimberlee. Ken gave nicknames to all his kids and thoroughly enjoyed them and their children. Darline faithfully assisted Ken and was a strong advocate for him during his illnesses.
Ken and Darline made their home on part of his dad's property at the corner of Campbell and Holly Hill Roads where they haved lived since 1966. Ken inherited his dad's 1954 John Deere tractor and enjoyed using it to till the garden. John Deere items were among his favorite Christmas gifts.
Christmas and birthdays were favorite times, and he would try to guess what was in a package by shaking it, often guessing right. Holidays and birthdays were great times of celebration as a family.
Ken accepted Jesus as his Savior while a young person. He was a very faithful Christian and served for many years as the head usher at Laurel Community Church. One person observed that Ken had a special way of welcoming people to the church.
Ken served for six years as a member of the Oregon Air National Guard. He worked a variety of jobs and was appreciated as a valued worker. For many years he was a driver/salesman and his most recent job was as a maintenance man for the Hillsboro School District.
