Kimbly Green was born in Mt. Vernon, New York on September 11, 1976 to Charles Green Sr. and Lillian Valerie Green (Pyron). Kim was the fourth out of ten children – Charles Jr, Allegra, Michael, Kimbly, Sarah, Solomon, Tamar, Lillian, George and Daniel.
Kim spent the first 6 years of her life living in Mt Vernon with her family. At the age of 5, the Green family moved to Portland, Oregon. In 1994, Kim graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School. During her time there, Kim starred on the Benson High School Basketball team where she played with both her older sister Allegra and younger sister Sarah.
After graduating from Benson, Kim moved on to attend the University of Portland, where she studied Life Sciences. In addition to being an outstanding student, Kim was also a key member of the Pilots Women’s basketball team that played in two NCAA Tournament Championships. Originally, a walk on, Kim’s hard work, diligence to the game and teamwork was granted a scholarship for her last couple of years at the University of Portland. Kim graduated from University of Portland with a Bachelor of Science in 1998. After graduating Kim played a season of professional basketball in Germany.
In 1998, Kim met her future husband Tim Ellsworth. Kim and Tim were married September 18th, 1999 in Hillsboro, Oregon. It is in Hillsboro where they decided to start a family.
Madison Ruth was born on August 26th, 2000 and was instantly the center of Kim’s world. Following the birth of Madison, Kim returned to school to earn her Masters Degree in Special Education. She graduated with academic honors from Portland State University and began her teaching career. On December 4th, 2006 the Ellsworth family was completed with the birth of Braxtyn Rose.
Kim was a tremendous mother who dedicated all of her free time to raising both girls. She was very proud of all of the accomplishments both girls would amass throughout their lives. Both daughters have become outstanding athletes – excelling in soccer, basketball, volleyball and track – and if there was game, Kim was found on the sidelines as their biggest cheerleader. Kim ensured both girls also excelled in the classroom and both have matched their athletic accomplishments with high academic marks.
Kim was a very successful teacher in the Hillsboro School District, having spent over 20 years working for the district. Her tenure included working at Hillsboro High School, Glencoe High School, Century High School, Liberty High School and South Meadows Middle School. She served on several committees focused on improving the education of the students she taught and working to ensure these students were given best education they could receive. In addition to being a teacher, she also served as basketball coach at Glencoe, Century and Liberty high schools. When Liberty High School opened, Kim was the first head girls’ basketball coach.
Kim was taken from us on March 31, 2018 at the young age of 41. She was preceded in death and joins her Parents, Charles and Lillian, in Heaven. She is survived by her Husband Tim, daughters Madison and Braxtyn. Brothers and Sisters Charles Jr and his wife Juris, Allegra and her husband Guy, Michael and his wife Mary, Sarah, Solomon and his wife Dorothy, Tamar, Lillian, George and his girlfriend Christina and Daniel and his fiancé Lizzy. Gary and Barb Ellsworth her Father and Mother in law, Karla Boone her sister-law and 20 nieces and nephews. In addition, Kim was able to connect with anyone, so she leaves behind many friends that she has amassed over her entire life.
Gifts in Kim’s honor can be donated to the Hillsboro School Foundation and/or the University of Portland.
