Lenell Jones

November 30, 1935 — May 16, 2018

LeNell (Howell) Jones was born in Baker, Montana on November 30, 1935, to Nellie (Olson) Howell and Leonard Howell. She graduated from Forest Grove High School in 1954.  She earned a degree in Elementary Education from Pacific University, Forest Grove, in 1958, and later earned her Master’s Degree in Education.

She married Archie Lee Jones on August 7, 1960 in Forest Grove.  After living in California, Archie and LeNell moved back to Oregon, settling first in Forest Grove, then in Hillsboro.  After their divorce in 1970, LeNell returned to teaching elementary school.  She taught at Peter Boscow Elementary until her retirement in 1994.

After retirement, LeNell enjoyed many years of traveling, teaching piano lessons, and caring for her beloved pets. In 2014, she moved to Cornell Estates, in Hillsboro, and most recently resided at the Whipple Creek Senior Estate adult foster home in Vancouver, Washington.

Her Christian faith was very important to LeNell. Although she attended several churches throughout the years, she felt a deep and personal connection to God and always believed He was watching over her and protecting her and her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Ellen Jones, and son-in-law, Chris Rounds, of Vancouver, Washington, and son, Matt (Jones) Wrenn, and grandson, Max Wrenn, of Seattle, Washington.

A memorial service will be held May 24 at 1:00 pm at the Donelson Funeral Chapel, in Hillsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that remembrances in LeNell’s honor be made to the Bonnie Hays Small Animal Shelter, 1901 SE 24th Ave., Hillsboro, Oregon 97123.
