LeRoy was born February 21st 1927 in Mott, North Dakota. He attended elementary school in Mott for three years. The family moved to Oregon in August of 1936 and resided on various farms in the Scholls, Oregon area. He attended Groner Elementary, Kinton Elementary and St Paul Lutheran School. He attended Beaverton High School and played on the High School football team. He loved to reminisce about his playing days.
After High School he worked at his parents farm, in Scholls, raising livestock and producing grain. He really enjoyed those years working on the farm. He continued to help his parents on the farm until it was sold.
In 1948 he started working at the Hillsboro Implement John Deere dealership as a mechanic. He soon became the service manager and continued working there for 43 years. Green and yellow were his favorite colors and always made sure that everyone knew that the John Deere colors were his favorite. After his retirement he worked at Fishback Nursery for three years. He enjoyed working on the machinery and among the nursery stock.
He married Lois Frank on May 15th, 1955 at the Trinity Lutheran church in Hillsboro, Oregon
He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends and traveling with Lois in Oregon and various parts of the country.
Leroy is survived by his wife Lois, his son's Duane and Brian, both of Hillsboro, Cheryl Fielding of Renton, Washington, sister Lorna Thoms of Bay City, Oregon, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
