Leslie Gene Dorrough

June 3, 1938 — June 2, 2017

Leslie Gene Dorrough left this life on June 2, 2017. Les had a deep love for the gospel of
Jesus Christ, and sought to pattern His life on a daily basis. Les truly lived a life full of
compassion and without guile. His heart simply would not allow him to walk away from
any situation where he could offer help to another person. He had no enemies.

Les was born on June 3, 1938 in Los Angeles, California to Kennedy Hillard Dorrough
and Olga Edna Harris. He married his sweetheart and the love of his life, Susan Bradley.
They were truly devoted to each other for over 54 delightful years. Les' greatest treasure
was his family, and together he and Susan were blessed with eight children.

He was an exceptional husband and father, and taught many lessons to his children,
mostly through his example of being honest, trusting in the Lord, putting others first and
working hard. The grandchildren loved playing Skip-Bo, dominos, Mexican Train and
Fill-or-Bust with their grandpa. He was always ready to scoop out one more bowl of ice
cream. His greatest sense of purpose came from helping others.

Les was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served
in the LDS East Central States mission for two years.

Les was drafted and served in the US Army for two years. He then graduated from
Brigham Young University with a bachelors and a masters degree. Shortly after
graduation, he moved with his family to Oregon where he lived for approximately 45
years. He was primarily employed by Tektronix and Tuality Healthcare. After retiring,
he served his church, community and neighbors in any way he could. He was a skilled
electrician, plumber, metalworker and woodworker. He was a man that literally could fix
anything, and did.

Whenever it was time to put something new together, he initially proceeded without the
directions because he wanted to see if there was a better way for something to have been
designed, engineered or assembled. Almost always, there was. He made good use of an
expansive home shop that would rival many commercial shops.

Les was brilliant and relished in mental and intellectual challenges. He loved problem
solving and loved the internet. He particularly liked YouTube, because it gave him the
opportunity to feed for free from some of the brightest minds, but also to enjoy the broad
array of ideas and ways of thinking about the world.

Les is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susan Bradley; seven of his eight children: David
(Michelle), Stephen (Kit), Mark (Jill), Rebecca (Curtis Child), Jon (Ellen), Michael
(Shanna), Joshua (Kristy), 43 grandchildren, and sibling Mike (Kay) Dorrough. He is
preceded in death by his brother, Jim; his parents Kennedy and Olga; his parents-in-law,
Ralph and Mildred Bradley; and his daughter, Anne (Ron Hanset).

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Golden Road
LDS Chapel on 5580 SE Golden Road in Hillsboro, OR. A viewing will be held prior to
the funeral from 10:00 to 10:30 am at the Golden Road LDS Chapel.

Interment will be at Salt Lake City Cemetery at noon on June 12, 2017. In lieu of
flowers, Les and Sue would prefer that in his memory you go out of your way to extend
kindness to another today.

Les, Dad and Grandpa - We will miss you, but we know this is not the end.
