Linda Mae Clark

May 30, 1943 — February 25, 2025

Linda Mae Clark (née Murphy), 81, of Hillsboro, Oregon, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025 with her loving family present.

Linda was born on May 30, 1943, at Emmanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon. She was the firstborn daughter of Ruth Frances Ellis Murphy and Victor B. Murphy, though she and her siblings were lovingly raised by her mother and stepfather, Walter Llewellyn Trotter.

Linda dedicated her professional life to caring for others as an accomplished Registered Nurse, serving in surgery, infection control, and the Emergency Department. Her adventurous spirit led her to work as a missionary nurse in Chile, combining her nursing skills with her deep faith. She was a graduate of Emmanuel Nursing School and Multnomah School of the Bible. Her devotion to her Christian faith guided her throughout her life and informed her compassionate approach to everyone she met.

She took great pleasure in life's many offerings: walking, hiking, reading, puzzles, collecting antiques, decorating, dancing, and music. During her years living in Ohio, far from her family roots, she embraced her new community and found a church family that became an important part of her life.

Above all, Linda cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She found immense joy in nurturing the youngest members of her family.

Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Patrick Douglas Murphy, who passed away earlier the same month. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Anne Fugate (née Clark); her son, Geoffrey David Clark; her sister, Kathleen Bea Hrastar; her sister-in-law Eila Murphy (wife of Patrick Murphy) and their two children, Mikko Murphy and Miia Murphy; her former husband and father of her children, Larry Phillip Clark; and her eight grandchildren, including Murphy Mae Fugate, Ruth Emma Leigh Fugate, and Sebastian Daniel Fugate, who adored her and always will.

Even as she faced the challenges of dementia in her later years, Linda never lost her capacity for joy when seeing her family and loved ones. She will be remembered as a wonderful, loving, and caring mother and grandmother whose warmth, kindness, and adventurous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She made the world brighter just by being in it.

Memorial services will be held in the summer at the Oregon Coast when her family will all be gathered to celebrate her life.
