Mabel Lela Henshaw Glosenger passed away October 12, 2018. She left this earth to be with her Lord and loved ones. She was born January 5, 1926 on an island in the middle of the Snake River as her parents were ferrying between Idaho and Oregon. She was raised on a farm. During World War II, she worked at the Kaiser Ship yard in Portland, Oregon as a welder. She married Joseph Schaecher in Mt. Angel, Oregon in November of 1946. In the 1950s, she attended the University of Portland as the first ever enrolled female student and first in her family to attend college. She was a telephone operator in Klamath Falls, Oregon in early 1950s. In 1967, she graduated from Portland State College and taught second and third grade at John Gumm Elementary School in St. Helens, Oregon for 20 years. She married Bob Glosenger in 1971 and moved to Hillsboro, Oregon where they built, owned, and operated Sir Loin’s Steak House. In 1987 she retired from teaching and moved to Forest Grove, Oregon. She was a member of the Hillsboro First Baptist and Forest Grove First Baptist Churches. She leaves behind 3 children; Gregory Lewis Schaecher, Daniel Carter Schaecher, and Teresa Lynne Schaecher Glosenger. Three step-children; Eric (Lu) Glosenger, Robert John (Beth Anne) Glosenger, and Telka (Randy) Peterson. Two grandchildren; David (Theresa) Schaecher, Amber Schaecher and three great grand children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rueben E. Henshaw and Irene E. (Patterson) Henshaw, her brothers Dan (Beverly) Henshaw, and Dewey W. (Bettie) Henshaw, and sister Dorothy (Gene) Hatch. A graveside service will be held at 2:45pm on October 19th, 2018 at Fir Lawn Memorial Park in Hillsboro, Oregon.
