Malcolm Evans Smith II, passed away on March 22, 2024, at the age of 57 at Providence St Vincent Medical Center. Malcolm, affectionately known as 'Kip,' was a dedicated father to four children, Nick, Trey, Karissa, and Maria whom he loved greatly. He was also a beloved grandfather to Sarai, Nick (Jr), and Eugene Additionally, he was a brother, uncle, friend, and a shoulder to many. Born in Portland, Oregon, Kip attended Glencoe before beginning his military service. He served in the Army during the Gulf War, holding the rank of specialist , and received many accolades, including two bronze service stars. Kip was a proud Christian who cherished his faith and found solace in serving his fellow man. Outside of his military service, he worked at various home improvement stores such as Lowes and Home Depot. He was also an entrepreneur and founded a business, specializing in metal work and carpentry]. In his free time, he loved to go camping, quad biking, fishing, and telling jokes. He could often be found watching The Office with his kids or in his shop. He also had a special interest in the Wizard of Oz and Willy Wonka, amassing a collection of themed memorabilia that he proudly displayed in his home. Kip was a lover of music, movies, and had a talent for bringing people together and making them laugh. He was known for his karaoke skills and brought joy to those around him. There will be a scattering of ashes on Thursday, May 9th, at 3 pm at Willamette National Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post based in Gresham.
