Marie Nichols of Aloha died on November 14 of age related causes. She was 89. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, at Donelson Fir Lawn Memorial Center in Hillsboro. Visitation will precede the service from 10:00am to 12 noon with a graveside service to follow at Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro.
She was born May 3, 1921 in Hillsboro, Oregon to Andrew and Bessie Stover. She married Walter J. Nichols on October 26, 1938 in Vancouver, Washington. They met on a Portland city bridge when he stopped to help her change a flat tire. They were married just shy of 62 years, falling more in love each day. He passed away on October 2, 2000. She had a son, Walter J. Nichols, Jr., born November 16, 1939. She was a homemaker. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She loved the Lord, and lived each day to honor him.
Survivors include a granddaughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Michael Cotton, and three great grandchildren, Dallas, Chase and Faith Cotton;all of Eugene, Oregon, a daughter-in-law, Sue Nichols of Aloha, and dear friends David and Pam Gilbertson and family, of Aloha.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Nichols Sr., her son, Walter Nichols Jr., and grandson, Rodney J. Nichols
